The hotel is built on the site of a 13th Century Monastery – part of the foundation is exhibited (under a glass floor in the spa) and many artifacts are on display in the hotel. It is combining a five-star luxury hotel with a wonderfully preserved piece of history which makes it a truly a unique hotel experience.
Enjoying a peaceful location in Malá Strana, The Mandarin Oriental, Prague is a serene retreat infused with centuries of character. With an acclaimed spa and beautiful rooms, they are offering a glimpse into the past, whilst embracing the future.
Check-in was a breeze and I was offered a voucher for a welcome drink at the bar and a free wifi password coupon. (for all guests which book the room online) I was escorted to my suite by an eager team member which gave me a short overview about the hotel, its history as well as the facilities of the hotel, such as the spa, the restaurant and the bar and some brief information about the location and the nearby sights of Prague.
Mandarin Oriental hotels in Europe strive to have a top notch service with a little bit of “asian” touches every now and then. I found this goal well achieved with beautifully appointed rooms and suites, a top level luxury spa and a modern restaurant with an historic stone wine cellar which features a possibility for a small group setting. Outdoor seating is especially popular during the warm season.
Rooms and suites are tastefully decorated with generously sized bathrooms. Rainshower, bathtub and a TV as well as luxury amenities are available and a sleep promoting pillow spray at turn-down service is provided.
I had a dinner at Spices restaurant which was excellent, perfect service and a beautiful dessert included.
Breakfast buffet was solid and I really loved the reading material concept. You are given a tablet with all your newspapers and magazines downloaded which is much easier to read than bulky paper editions and more eco-friendly too.
The golden city of Prague is beautiful and offers lots of things to see and explore. I would definitely recommend a stay at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel.
